I love the silent auction at Beneath The Sea dive show- it has wonderful trips and beautiful art and jewelry items to bid on. A year ago this past March, I bid on and won a trip offered by a WDHOF member, Michelle Pugh (2004)for a Dive Experience in St Croix. The package included 5 nights at Chenay Bay Resort and two tank dives a day -- for two people!!!!! I won!!

Indeed, I did. I celebrated my 70th birthday diving with other things that last a long time -- turtles!! Diving was easy and enjoyable on Dive Experience, Michelle’s comfortable boat with her excellent staff. There are many varied dive locations in St Croix and I enjoyed each that I dove.

“WOW, this is fabulous!”
commented WDHOF
President, Bobbie Scholley on reading this story. “And such a wonderful example of why our “sisterhood”
is so special. Where else does a 70 year old celebrate her birthday by SCUBA diving at a “sister’s” resort that she got at a silent auction that supports diving education for young people? What a success story!!!!”

Making things even more fun was an added “crew member”, Skeeter, the “diving dog”. He was a riot bounding off the boat fetching and just totally enjoying the water. He can “dive” to 9 feet. Hard to tell who has more fun on a day of diving -- Michelle or her dog.

After a day on the water, or driving around the island, which is quite interesting with sugar mills and old towns, it was a pleasure to return “home” to our comfortable cottage at Chenay Bay. The resort had a lovely pool (swam under the stars and was gifted with a shooting star on my birthday) and a sandy beach, friendly bar and good restaurant. The air conditioner was very effective as well. (Important - as I don’t like HOT weather)

Hope to see you at BTS around the silent auction tables. In the meanwhile, if you are looking for a close, comfortable, safe island to explore above and below the surface, give Michelle Pugh a call. She will set up a real “DIVE EXPERIENCE.”
